Getting to Koh Lanta from Krabi, Phuket and Phi Phi

Most people reach Koh Lanta by road: shared vans from Krabi Airport, Krabi Town and Ao Nang cross on the car ferry and take 2 to 3 and a half hours, sold online from about 400 THB for November 2026. From November, boats also run to Saladan Pier from Krabi, Ao Nang, Railay, Phuket and Koh Phi Phi. From Bangkok, fly to Krabi and continue by van.

Krabi Airport, Krabi Town and Ao Nang by van and car ferry

The road option runs all year. Shared vans pick up at Krabi Airport, at Krabi Bus Terminal and at hotels in Krabi Town and Ao Nang, cross on the car ferry, and drop you at Saladan Pier or your hotel on Koh Lanta. The trip takes 2 to 3 hr 30 min.

For November 2026, these vans were sold online for 396 to 419 THB; one airport van left at 08:00 and reached Koh Lanta at 10:30. The car ferry is included in the fare, so you stay with the van.

From Phuket and Koh Phi Phi by sea

Boats to Koh Lanta leave Phuket's Rassada Pier (see the Phuket guide). The ferries stop at Koh Phi Phi and take about 4 hours: Phi Phi Cruiser at 08:30 for 850 THB and Andaman Wave Master for 1,200 THB, both reaching Saladan at 12:30, sold online for November 2026. Speedboats and catamarans take 1 hr 15 min to 2 hr 45 min for 1,090 to 1,488 THB; PP Cabana Express leaves at 08:45 and 12:15.

From Koh Phi Phi, boats leave Ton Sai Pier and take 30 minutes to 1 hr 35 min, for 550 to 790 THB. A van from Phuket hotels, with the car ferry, takes about 5 to 7 hours, from 743 THB. The Phuket to Krabi guide covers the same coast by road and sea.

Which boats sail from May to October

The van and car ferry run all year. The boats are seasonal: in late October 2026, the online listings showed vans every day but most boats only from early November. Outside the high season, check the boat operator's own timetable before you count on a sailing.

From Bangkok: fly to Krabi or take the overnight bus

The quickest way is a flight to Krabi (KBV) and a van: 5 to 6 hr 30 min door to door, sold online from about 2,060 THB for November 2026 as one ticket from Suvarnabhumi.

Overnight buses with a van and ferry connection leave the Khao San Road area between 18:00 and 19:00 and take 15 hr 30 min to 17 hr 30 min, for 990 to 1,755 THB. The Bangkok guide explains how to reach the airports and Khao San.

Leaving Koh Lanta

Vans back to Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Krabi Airport leave from about 07:00. Boats to Krabi leave Saladan from 08:15, and boats to Phuket between 07:00 and 08:00 and around 13:00. For a flight, allow for the van's hotel pickups and the car ferry.

  • In Ban Thung Yee Peng, villagers guide mangrove trips and kayaking.
  • Mu Ko Lanta National Park sells electronic tickets: buy ahead and carry your passport. The smaller islands and dive sites usually close from May to October.
